Join the Society

While you might not be able to give as much as you’d like to the Rotarian’s for The Development of Youth – Echo Lake Farms project during your lifetime, you can help a child by leaving a legacy after your death. It’s as easy as inserting a paragraph in your will or revocable living trust, or amending an existing one with what attorneys call a codicil.

Your gift may be in the form of cash, marketable securities, stocks, or real estate. Once you have determined you want to take this important step, please consult an attorney who specializes in estate planning.

Here is an example of language that can be inserted:

“I give (name the amount or percentage) to the Rotarian’s for The Development of Youth, Inc. – Echo Lake Farms project, EIN 85-0808966, a nonprofit corporation whose address is 312 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Florida 32177, to be used by the organization to assist foster children in the State of Florida.”

If you already have a will or trust, you can attach a codicil (amendment) to it indicating your bequest. Please consult your legal advisor about making such an amendment.

Retirement funds and investments

Setting aside a portion of your retirement fund or investment is one of the simplest ways you can leave a legacy to the Echo Lake Farms project:

Ask your financial advisor or human resources department to provide beneficiary designation forms for your account.
Indicate the portion (dollar amount or percentage) of the account(s) you would like to leave to RDY.
Return your signed forms to your financial advisor or human resources department.

Become an Echo Lake Farms Society member

In the early 2000s, Milton Starnes developed a desire to turn his beautiful Echo Lake Farms into a program to help with the lives of foster children through agricultural nurturing and education. His dreams and desires would continue to influence young people for the next 100 years, making his legacy everlasting.

Those who remember Rotarian’s for The Development of Youth, Inc. in their will or trust are members of this important legacy society.
